CDD Ghana carried out an assessment of the work of the Special Prosecutor, one year into the set up of the Office with Mr. Martin Amidu being the first to be appointed as the Special Prosecutor.
This report on behalf of Corruption Watch, the CSO Coalition on the OSP and ADISS. This report
assesses the OSP along five key dimensions: Appointment of key officers of the Office in terms of compliance with the spirit and letter of the law; Setting up of the Office including infrastructure, staffing, logistics, and financing; Operationalization – looking at the core mandate to the Office to investigate, prosecute and recover stolen resources; coordination and collaboration with sister agencies; and public engagement. In assessing these areas, I will look at the expectations of the OSP Act 2017 for each of the key dimensions, what has been observed during the period under review, and propose ways to close the gaps if there are any.
